Our story

The charity was set up in 2014 by her family in memory of Linda Tremble, who sadly lost her battle with anorexia nervosa in 2011.

Since 2019 we have expanded to become Scotland’s leading community eating disorder charity and now hold support group meetings for people over 18 with eating disorders and for parents, carers and families in Ayrshire, Fife, Forth Valley, Glasgow, Highland, Lanarkshire, Perth, Edinburgh and Tayside. In the future our strategy is to expand into other areas in Scotland so that we can ensure that everyone in Scotland affected by an eating disorder gets support and respect in the heart of their community.

We have three full time employees -our Operations Director, a Services Manager and a Community Engagement Coordinator. We recently recruited a part time Carers Coordinator. This has only been possible with the support of our major funders, The Robertson Trust, National Lottery , Comic Relief and the Self Management Fund and many other generous charitable trusts.

In 2020 we took the decision to rebrand the charity as “SupportED” to better reflect the work of the charity, encompassing the specific area of providing support within the community to everyone affected by eating disorders.

We want to be the leading community based support charity in Scotland. Our 5 year Strategic Plan 2022-2027 is set out here – Publications

Our meetings are run by volunteers trained by experts in eating disorders and are confidential, supportive, informal and friendly in accordance with our beliefs and values.

We also continue to provide one to one befriending support by telephone and provide access to professionals with eating disorder and mental health expertise.
