The charity was set up in 2014 by her family in memory of Linda Tremble, who sadly lost her battle with anorexia nervosa in 2011.

Since 2019 we have expanded to become Scotland’s leading community eating disorder charity and now hold support group meetings for people over 18 with eating disorders and for parents, carers and families in Ayrshire, Fife, Forth Valley, Glasgow, Highland, Lanarkshire, Perth and Tayside. In the future our strategy is to expand into Edinburgh and other areas in Scotland so that we can ensure that everyone in Scotland affected by an eating disorder gets support and respect in the heart of their community.

We employed a Development Manager at the end of 2019 to manage this expansion. This has only been possible with the support of our major funders, The Robertson Trust, National Lottery and Comic Relief and many other generous charitable trusts.

In 2020 we took the decision to rebrand the charity as “SupportED” to better reflect the work of the charity, encompassing the specific area of providing support within the community to everyone affected by eating disorders.

Our meetings are run by volunteers trained by experts in eating disorders and are confidential, supportive, informal and friendly in accordance with our beliefs and values.

We also continue to provide one to one support by telephone and provide access to professionals with eating disorder and mental health expertise.

Coronavirus Response

During Coronavirus, we have been holding our group meetings via Zoom which many people prefer, either by video or audio.  It also has the advantage of saving travel time and is accessible for people in remote, rural locations so that we have been able to expand our geographical reach to support more people.
